Alsace
I have been a fan of Alsace for many years now. This cool climate on the border of Germany (and occasionally part of Germany) uses many of the same grapes as Germany but usually fully ferments the wine make wines a bit more dry than German counterparts of the same varietals.
Up at the top of my Alsace list are the Cremants, which is the term used to describe wines made sparkling but not from the Champagne region. For every day summer drinking with light foods, not much can beat the 100% Pinot Noir Cremant d'Alsace wines from Lucien Albrect.
Wine Speculator doesn't know dirt, read them for their travel pieces. They never rate these for their true value.
